Earlier this year, Foxhole Technology's Col. (Ret.) Mark Price, who supports the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering (OUSD(R&E)), participated in a panel discussion at Georgetown University sponsored by the National Defense Policy Initiative (NDPI).
Col. Price and the other NDPI panel members – MG (Ret.) Pete Gallagher and Dr. Glenn Lamartin – addressed the issue of Military Modernization: Acquisition, Procurement and Sustainment Strategies as part of a moderated discussion. Some of the critical topics addressed at the event included the OUSD(R&E) modernization priorities, modern software development challenges, logistics challenges relative to our global security responsibilities, as well as the future of joint command and control interoperability, both in the joint and coalition environments.
Attendees included junior military members from all military branches with assignments with the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) and Joint staffs following their year of study. The students and faculty asked informed questions related to modernization challenges the Department of Defense (DoD) is facing and relayed appreciation for the panel’s insights.
