Job Description
Technical/Engineering Skills
• Perform Basic Network Administration Functions
• Technically inclined to work on a range of network devices.
• Flexible, and able to adapt quickly to new equipment and new environments.
• Knowledge of Operating System such as IOS
• Knowledge of Network Protocols
• Hardware/ software installs to include configuring, upgrading and troubleshooting
• Problem Solving
• Network Security
• User account management
• Perform network tuning
• Answer technical queries.
• Document the configuration of the system.
• Troubleshoot any reported problems.
• Certifications a definitive plus (i.e. Cisco)
Touch Labor Skills
• Ability to Terminate and install/remove cabling. This involves Category 5/6 and fiber support (using pre-fabricated fiber cables)
• Ability to physically un-package and move equipment
• Ability to install/remove equipment into racks
• Ability to operate power tools in order to be able to cut floor tiles and install equipment
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to operate standard hand tools
Security
• Ability to obtain and maintain an IT-1/Secret security clearance:
The positions are established with a sensitivity level of IT-1 (critical sensitive). This means that the candidate of these positions have privileged access to networks and information systems, system security and network defense systems, or to system resources. Duties are broad in scope and authority and provide access to the U.S. Government, DoD, or Component mission critical systems. The potential exists for exceptionally serious adverse impact on U.S. Government, DoD, Component or private sector information and/or operations, with worldwide or government-wide effects. To obtain an IT-1 requires a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI). Successfully completing an SSBI allows for a clearance of Top Secret. However the clearance will be adjudicated at the Secret level based upon the level of classification of the systems to be accessed.

Note: Knowledge of these systems/processes is an added value. It is understood that they are DISA specific and most potential candidates will not have knowledge of them. Candidates will be provided training on these systems.

• Perform tasks to apply Security Technical Information Guides (STIG) to devices in primary area of technical support.
• Cisco ACS (TACACs and RADIUS authentication)

Note: Knowledge of some, not of all these vendors/appliances, would be beneficial, but not required. Knowledge of Cisco devices, especially switches, is a requirement; with the ability to configure ports and interfaces.
